Breaking news, Post office robbery, Navan Gardai, Meath robbery, Blackcastle post office robbery
The postoffice at Blackcastle on the Slane Road Navan County Meath has been robbed again, with two men allegedly armed with a gun. Navan Gardai are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should contact Navan Gardai or the confidential line immediately.

Two men, wearing motorbike helmets, entered the post office at Black Castle in the town just before 11am.

One of them was armed with a pistol which he fired into the ceiling when he was challenged about the authenticity of the weapon.

They left the post office within two minutes taking several thousand euro in cash as well as a small amount of US Dollars and Sterling.

They left on a blue motorbike driving at speed out the Slane road. A short distance away they got into a car, a blue Audi A4, which had been stolen in Drogheda.

As they sped from the town they crashed the Audi at Hayestown just outside Navan and then escaped on foot.

GardaĆ­ have appealed for the public's assistance. The two raiders were hanging around the Black Castle shopping centre for some time and one of them was wearing a distinctive yellow helmet.

The blue Audi had a taxi sign on its roof and its driver had been waiting on the Slane road for his two accomplices.

Anyone who saw any suspicious activity between 10am-11.30am is asked to come forward. Any information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
