A man in his 40s has died following a road traffic collision in Co Meath this morning.
The man died when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a barrier near Junction 7 of the M3 shortly after 6am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The slip road at Junction 7 southbound is currently closed pending a forensic examination and diversions are in place. The M3 remains open.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Navan Garda station on 046-9036100, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
Yesterday another motorcyclist was killed following a collision with a car in Co Cork.
According to gardaĆ­, the man, in his 40s, was involved in an incident at about 1.30pm at Upper Glanmire. He was taken to the Mercy University Hospital in Cork but was pronounced dead.
The occupants of the car were uninjured.
A man in his 40s has died following a fatal stabbing incident at an apartment complex in Cavan town last night.
The victim was stabbed in an apartment at Connolly Court, Connolly Street in the town shortly after 11pm.
The body remains at the scene and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified. A team from the Garda Technical Bureau is also expected to arrive at the scene later today.
GardaĆ­ have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in or around the apartment complex between 10pm and 12am last night to contact them at Cavan Garda station on 049-4368800, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
