Breaking news, Drugs, Kells, Meath Gardai


Two people have been arrested after cannabis worth an estimated €1.5 million was seized during a search in Kells, Co Meath, last night.

Officers from the Kells Garda drug unit, assisted by the Regional Support Unit, searched a business premises in the town last night and discovered a large cannabis cultivation operation.

A man (53) and a 43-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and are being held at Kells Garda station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

A Garda spokesman said investigations are continuing.
